Overview
JWS Coatings UK was contracted to carry out a full external respray of the steel cladding and shutter doors at a large-scale industrial unit. The site had suffered prolonged exposure to environmental wear, resulting in faded and discoloured surfaces that no longer met the visual or maintenance standards required by the client.
The objective was to restore a consistent, professional appearance while providing a durable protective coating suitable for high-use industrial settings.
Surface Preparation
Prior to coating, all surfaces underwent mechanical preparation including degreasing, pressure washing, and spot priming of bare metal to promote adhesion. All loose and flaking coatings were removed. On-site teams adhered to access and safety requirements under CHAS, IPAF, and PASMA accreditation.
Preparation was carried out during active site operations with full coordination with the facilities management team to avoid disruption to on-site logistics.
Application
A high-build, industrial-grade coating system was applied using airless spraying equipment. All works were carried out to manufacturer specification, with attention to material film build and weather curing conditions.
The colour system was selected in line with the client’s asset strategy and site branding. Roller shutter doors, external cladding, and associated trims were coated in a consistent RAL colour finish.
Result
The project was delivered on time and to specification, providing the client with an improved site image and extended surface protection. The coating system is engineered to withstand prolonged UV exposure, reduce future maintenance intervals, and improve surface cleanability.
This project forms part of the client’s ongoing estate upgrade programme and supports both asset value retention and operational presentation.
